In the 1950, the population of golden eagles in the USA plunged tremendously. Many species were forced to leave for relatively scarcely inhabited western regions. Specialists estimate, that ranch keepers, who claimed that eagles were a threat to livestock, extirpated more than 20,000 golden eagles in the 1950. Pesticide contamination is another elimination factor for the golden eagle.
Since 1963, Golden eagles are under protection. Research organizations (Denali Bird Research & Monitoring, US Geological Survey, Forest and Rangeland Ecosystem Science Center, etc.) deal in retrieving and maintaining natural habitat. At the same time, they continue to track current changes in habitat and conduct studies on the bird's migration, breeding habits and reactions to human interference.
Specialists monitor the movements of birds of different ages and single out discrepancies. They do that by way of radio telemetry (satellite tracing). Attachment of Golden Eagles is also a matter of particular interest for scientists, and they apply molecular genetic technology to identify a single group of birds, visiting the same nesting area.
Denali Research & Monitoring Center, in cooperation with other organizations, such as Us Geological Survey, Biological Resources Division, Forest and Rangeland Ecosystem Science Center, and Alaska Bird Observatory so forth created Denali National Park, which presents all necessary conditions for Golden Eagles to live and breed safely. Their job is to preserve the environment, which is perfectly suitable for Golden Eagles, and their main objective is to safeguard the territory against hazardous influences of human activity.
Certainly, the organization does not confine its work to the preservation of one species. The preserve contains a mosaic of habitats, which include not only Alpine uplands, but also woodlands, rivers, lakes, ponds, and lowland
wetlands. Similar to the Golden Eagles, thousands of other bird species demand
protection.

Golden Eagles Information - Golden Eagles are magnificent birds, which can be found in the North America, Europe and Asia and they play a vital role in the formation of natural environment. Unfortunately, in the 20th century their population shrank drastically due to human poaching into their habitat, but now Eagles, both Bald and Golden ones receive substantial support from habitat management and conservation projects.
In early times Golden Eagles were notorious for attacking domestic animals and small livestock, and governments sanctioned shooting of Golden Eagles. This contributed to the decline of the Eagle population. Now this species is protected by law, and unauthorized possession or illegal killing is punished by stiff fines.
