Bird Breeders

Bird breeders are usually known to any other nearby breeder and will often have a picture of their prize birds. Not all populations of Bald eagles migrate in winter. These predators are perfectly adapted to cold and if food remains available all year round, they don’t move southward. Bald eagles residing near small lakes and rivers have to move to large rivers with dams or to the sea shore. Migrating eagles are very spectacular. A stream of eagles can stretch up to 30 miles long. They circle on columns of rising air and then glide down. Bird breeders are usually known to any other nearby breeder and will often have a picture of their prize birds. Bald eagles are believed to live over 30 years or longer in the wild. In captivity, these birds tend to live even longer. Bald eagles mate for life. They build huge nests in the tops of large trees. They roost in the areas near rivers, lakes, or marshes. The Bald eagle is truly an all-American bird. It ranges over most of the continent. Male Bald eagles measure about 3 feet from head to tail, and weigh 7 to 10 pounds. Females are larger than males, some reaching 14 pounds and having a wingspan of up to 8 feet. Northern species tend to be larger than their southern relatives. Bird breeders are usually known to any other nearby breeder and will often have a picture of their prize birds.
